Recording one of these songs for the home jam sessions series with my dad has become a bit of a tradition. For the third annual father's day home sessions video, my dad and I covered Dusty Springfield's "I Only Want to Be With You".
I've had the pleasure of recording a few times with my friend, Marie Hopperstad, but this is the first time we've produced a video. I always love jamming with her because her voice is just so damned good.
The song was her choice, and she nailed it. Even though she gave me four days to learn how to play the tune, I didn't learn it until we were sitting in the studio (I'm a chronic procrastinator). It did take a few tries, so I think this is the third or fourth full take.
My sister Hillary and I recorded this Sheryl Crow cover several years ago, and I stumbled across it today when going through my iTunes. Wanted to share. Hillary rocked the vocals, I played all the instruments. Brent did all the engineering. I just threw it into Logic Pro to juice up the output a little bit. Hope ya like it!
This was a particularly fun video to record and edit. Shot a few different takes with different camera angles, and even included some footage that James Joel took from his treacherous ride home after the shoot.
